At what point in the story do you believe Lane and Maddie's relationship truly became love? Do you believe Maddie regrets her choices? Reflecting on your own life, if you had foreseen the path ahead, would you have made the same decisions? Are you glad you didn't know beforehand?

I think it evolved into love very fast. The risks and problems they were going to encounter would not have been worth it unless it was a very strong commitment.

I think that when Maddie joined Lane at the camp...he could see that she was truly committed to the relationship and that he could trust her with his family...she truly became part of the family at that point. I think they were in the "nice, intense" part of love at the beginning of the book...the part of love that causes you to do spontaneous things like get married in secret. After lane went to the camp, they really became partners...true love.

I agree with Molly C, I believe it became love when they were at the camp. Before this, it seemed more like infatuation. Being with Lane, day in and day out solidified what they had into love.

I believe it was at the beach when Lane told her that his parents had arranged a marriage for him, and then he asked Maddie to marry him. When she thought she might be losing Lane. She had snuck notes into his pockets plenty of times conveying her sentiment, "yet only now did she become aware of how much she meant those words."
