One in Every 30 Posts Wins the Book of Your Choice!

This offer is now closed.

Go to http://www.bookbrowse.com/booktalk to see the current list of topics being discussed

As a thank you to those who post to BookTalk in the early weeks, the writer of one in every twenty-five posts will win the book of his or her choice from the currently available list http://www.bookbrowse.com/thankyou/free_book, which will be mailed to you free of charge, wherever you live. So the more times you post in the forums the more chances you have to win!

Winners will be contacted by email and have one week in which to respond. So when you initially register to post, do make sure that you use an email address that you check regularly, or we won't be able to contact you! (Your email address never shows on screen, it's purely used for communication).

Your odds of winning depend on how many times you post. For example, if you post once you have a one in twenty-five chance of being selected; if you post five times you have a one in five chance of winning.

Posts must be on topic and add value to the conversation (so please don't write any old rubbish for the sake of clocking up entries!)

If members receive a free copy of a book from BookBrowse as part of a book club discussion, their posts about the book are not eligible for this free draw; but their posts on other topics are eligible.

RE: BookTalk Winners

Our first winner is LiteraryLinda for her response to "What was your favorite childhood book?"

When I was in second grade, I was home in bed with the chicken pox. This was 60 years ago and kids were kept home longer than these days. The school nurse even visited me. My grandmother sent me a copy of Honey Bunch. I loved it and it helped the days pass much more quickly. I also read all the Nancy Drew books I could get my hands on. In the 9th grade, I read Girl of the Limberlost and just loved it. One day, riding the bus home from school, I was reading. All of a sudden I realized we had stopped. Gary, our bus driver, looked in his big mirror and said "Linda, are you going to get off the bus?" I was so engrossed in my book that I didn't realize I was home.

Linda's been contacted by email.

The second winner is RoanH - who's already been contacted by email!

Roan's winning post was in response to the question: "Overall what did you think of the 'The Help' by Kathryn Stockett?"

Roan says: I read "The Help" when it first came out, so I don't remember some of the details. I do know that it was one of my very favorite books, in the same genre of "To Kill A Mockingbird." I grew up in Natchez, Mississippi, not too far from Jackson where Ms. Stockett lives. I think she drew a literary picture that was right on target for those times. I related to many of the situations, such as the separate toilet for "the help." I have read that this book was rejected 50 times before its final acceptance. If true, that would be hard to understand, unless it was due to its "hot" topic.

RE: BookTalk Winners

Our third winner is LeaAnn for her post in response to "What was your favorite childhood book?"

Oh, my. What a difficult question. Rather than a favorite book, as there are too many to even recall each one, let me digress a bit into a favorite genre which was/is poetry. As a quite young child I had a copy of Robert Louis Stevenson's "A Child's Garden of Verses." While I no longer have a copy of that book, I often recall "by heart" many of the verses therein which I so loved. As I grew older I enjoyed a very old copy of the complete works of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow which belonged to my mother and which I do have. While it is almost 100 years old and showing its age, I still enjoy refreshing my memory of some of my favorites within the volume. Because of those two books, I am still a poetry fan, have quite a collection of poetry books and enjoy my favorites over and over again.

LeaAnn has been contacted by email. You can see the list of currently available books at You can see the list of available books here: http://www.bookbrowse.com/thankyou/free_book

RE: BookTalk Winners

Our book club, BOOKWORMS, read The Help, and the response was of some embarrassment as we are also from the South and recognized some of our friends and relatives in the help. We served a caramel cake and a chocolate cake with a card reading, "compliments of Minnie" We all had a good laugh that the chocolate cake was met with some hesitation. Book was fun, fun fun!
