Margie describes many of Operation H.E.A.R.T.'s efforts - or "campaigns" - to help animals. Did you feel the actions of the crew were worthwhile? Can change be effectively brought about through group efforts, or should it happen on an individual-by-individual basis?

Personally, I found operation HEART somewhat silly. It reminded me of PETA of which I am not a fan. They were a potentially dangerous operation doing things that had little impact on the treatment of animals. I try to eat organically and buy organic food. I put my money where my mouth is.

I agree with bonnieb. I too saw great similarities with PETA - an organization that takes animal rights to the utmost extreme. I am not a fan of their tactics. Again, much of what they do has little impact on real animals in trouble.

Actions that can really help animals include shelters for unwanted animals, spay/neuter release programs for feral cats/dogs, safe euthanasia for aging horses and other large animals, plus, humane treatment of all animals raised for the meat industry.

Change almost always happens when people work together to make a difference. Individuals rarely affect change

Their actions were, IMO, worthwhile, although not always well thought out. While we, as individuals, can make a difference in many facets of our world, I do believe that be banding together in a common cause we can make even more of a difference. However, as groups, actions need to be helpful, not hurtful, to anyone, human or animal.

I'm leaning toward the opinion their actions seemed, for the most part, more disruptive than truly effective. They did get press, though, which is important.

I believe their group was rather useless. They did not have a proper agenda. Everything was spur of the moment and rather useless.

I feel they were not an organized group with a proper agenda. Everything they did was spur of the moment and not thought out.

I don't think they were properly organized or successful. I think they believed in a good cause, but didn't know how to execute their actions to make a change.
