RE: Similar books?

The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak was also about hiding a jew from the Nazis.
Sarah's Key, by Tatiana de Rosnay was also set in both curren time and during WW II.

Out of all three of these books, I felt that The Book Thief was the best - multi-layered and thought provoking without any stereotypes or cliched characters. Also evoked much more emotional reaction.

RE: Similar books?

I still haven't read The Book Thief. It's been on my list forever. It's the current One Book/One Chicago read and the author's coming to speak in the city soon. Too bad it's such a pain getting from the far-flung suburbs to the city.
