About this book

Book Summary

This is how it starts. With a joke.

Two brothers -- Will and Jeff -- and their friend Tom are out one night at their favorite South Beach bar, the Wild Zone, and decide to make a bet on who can be the first to seduce a mysterious-looking young woman drinking by herself. Pretty, dark-haired, blue-eyed Suzy has an innocent, almost ordinary girl-next-door way about her. "Just waiting for Prince Charming to hit on her," Jeff says.

Little do they know the secrets she hides from the outside world, particularly those having to do with the daily horror she experiences under the watchful eye of her abusive husband. Little do they know she has an agenda of her own. Little do they know their harmless bet is about to take on a life of its own, a life full of deadly consequences for all concerned. There's certainly no going back once you've entered The Wild Zone.

Suspenseful!
With its dark secrets, hidden passions and a story filled with intrigue, The Wild Zone will keep you in suspense until the very last page is turned.

Oookaaayy....
I cannot believe Joy Fielding could write such a low level entertainment story where the reader guesses right from the very first pages 'till the unsurprising end. I read and liked all of her previous books but this one. Found myself yawning more than once throughout the reading and was increasingly unhappy with the plot - or absence of.
I am glad I borrowed this book from my local public library instead of buying it, because it is honestly not worth a single penny.. But anyway, this is just my humble opinion, so take it for what is worth. Serena.

Author Information

Joy Fielding Author Biography

Joy Fielding submitted her first story to Jack and Jill when she was eight years old, and the story was rejected. At twelve, she wrote her first TV script, the story of a twelve-year-old girl who murders her parents. Like the magazine story, it, too was rejected, but the thought of it caused her parents many a sleepless night. In her last year of high school her English teacher announced to the class that Joy Fielding was going to be a writer, though she hadn't decided that yet for herself.

At the University of Toronto, Fielding decided she wanted to be an actress. She performed in numerous campus productions and starred in the student movie, "Winter Kept Us Warm", a fixture on the art house circuit even today. After she graduated from the University of Toronto in 1966, with a BA in ...
