Can you think of a character whose advice either of the girls might have respected?

Rosaline struggles to get Juliet to see the danger that she is in and knows that she was just as stubborn when she was in Juliet's position. Can you think of a character whose advice either of the girls might have respected?

Nope. Young girls in love can't be swayed, in my opinion. If Rosaline's mother had lived, perhaps she would have been able to talk to the girls, but I still doubt it.

I think Rosaline would have listened to her mother - at least before being told she was going to be sent to a nunnery.

I think Rosaline would have listened to her mother. It seemed that she loved and respected her very much. Juliet appeared to be spoiled and would only listen if one said what she wanted to hear.

Perhaps Rosaline might have listened to her mother. But while under the spell of Romeo’s looks and words and wooing, neither would pay any attention to some other point of view.

I agree with Galatea. Even her mother's influence would have been diminished when Rosaline found out her mother approved of the plan to send her to the convent.

I also think Rosaline may have listened to her mother. However, young love and infatuation is incredibly powerful and not even Rosaline's mother may have been able to persuade Rosaline to give up on Romeo.

I agree with Melissa c. When we are young we can be fearless and love makes any age a little crazy so I doubt she there would have been anyone she would have listened to. Maybe if she had a long time best friend? Juliet became a close friend but only in a short period of time, not enough to build up that trust that long time friends have.

When we see that Juliet won’t believe anything Rosaline says, it’s a great reminder of the strong will of young women. It’s a coin flip as to whether Rosaline may have listened to her mother or if she would be too far under Romeo’s spell.

I also think that the young women would not have listened to anyone's advice on matters of the heart.

I agree with many of the answers that neither of the girls would listen to advice. Both girls were young and living in an era of time that allowed them no choices other than those decided for them by others. The world for them was bleak at best and Romeo provided (unworthy) a way to what appeared as happiness.

I agree with those above that think Rosaline would have listened to her mother. She clearly worshipped and loved her mother and would be strongly influenced by her mothers words.

It is difficult to imagine young teens listen to the advice of anyone. I think the closest would be Tybalt as he was same age and very close to Rosaline and Juliet - unfortunately he was also immature and not equipped to do anything other than react to Romeo's deceit, resulting in his own death.
