LIFE WILL SCHWALBE: The novel's cover

I am a "book cover" reader most of the time, so I tend to find/ study the cover for additional meaning or
purpose. When I look at this cover, I see two messages for the reader and perhaps even the author.
I see words of encouragement boldly printed in red ink: LIFE AND WILL. I think the central theme of this wonderful read...choosing to live LIFE in a productive, enriching, and purpose filled manner.
Will's mama between THE END OF HER LIFE and their BOOK CLUB shows her
son and us, the reader how to find a fulfilling LIFE. Is my idea too far fetched?

I hadn't even considered the cover. Interesting to hear your thoughts. Seeing Life in red draws attention to it and the story's ultimately a "life must go on" tale. Maybe it was intentional.

I was afraid I was too over the top with my thoughts, so I certainly appreciate your "vision." Covers/ book jackets, to me, can really make or break a works success. I am drawn to the art of the cover.

The book cover and the book's content celebrate Life--the preciousness of life and the importance of living it to its fullest and sharing it--no matter the circumstances--with others.

Thanks, Debra,

This book has had such an impact on me. My son and I have shared books for quite a while; I enjoy his interpretations, which by the way do not always agree with mine, but what food for thought we give one another. I hope our sharing will continue for a long, long time.

Marie

I'll admit, if I consider a book cover to be hideous I often will avoid the book. You can tell a lot from the cover, despite the old adage to the contrary! If it had, say, a shirtless man with sculpted muscles you couldn't pay me to touch it. Likewise, if there were zombies, grotesque creatures, etc. Those are red flags they are NOT the books for me!

I love a beautiful cover, that's for sure. And I know a lot goes into cover design. It's also what turns me off to so many self-published books. It's just so obvious they haven't been professionally designed. The covers are far too glossy, the fonts all over the place, the photos often cheesy. It tells me what's inside is probably no more professional than the cover. If this is going to become the wave of the future - or maybe it already is - they're going to need to fix that, to mirror books published by the big and little publishers, or readers like me won't go near them.

So, yeah, I'm a "cover girl"!
