Any life event has the power to change everything. It's whether or not we want to embrace that change, including all the ripple after effects, that's key to changing life's circumstances.

I think Henry was expressing an optimistic viewpoint about the arrival of his niece and the impact she could have on the family. The birth of a new generation gives family members a chance to break negative family cycles and create new, positive behavior patterns and enhanced relationships.

Welcoming a new baby into a family creates positive feelings. The event focuses on a future and changing dynamics. I do agree! I think no matter what disagreements a family or extended family may have, the birth of a child brings positive promises and unites family/friends

That is the smartest thing he ever said in the entire story! :::-):: I think it is true and it does have the power to change lives - give more meaning and a reason for being a better, less selfish person.

A birth of a child, or anything (an idea, a relationship, a marriage, etc.), provides the opportunity for growth, change, success, improvement. The success of the outcome will always depend on the mentality and resources of those responsible for the nurturing, and the nature inherent in the child. It is always a cause for hope, and Henry was expressing hope.
