Who would you have voted for in the presidential election at the end? Why would have made that choice?

Based on what we find out in the book, I might have voted for Shen Li. But of course, we never get that close a look at the candidates, do we?

I found Shen Li a very attractive choice as a man of his organization ability and drive is always valuable. I do not however thing it mattered much because as our system of government exists it all comes down to Congress and we have a long history of what that group can not accomplish for the good of this country.

RE: Who would you have voted for in the presidential election? Why?

I think the ending was so abrupt that I cannot effectively make a choice between the two candidates. Bernstein was so obviously flawed and somewhat unbelievable to me. People in power do crazy things but his irrational need to be with Suzanne felt contrived. I would like to believe that divorce would not exclude a presidential candidate. I also think he did the right thing by talking to Max. I thought Bernstein's behavior in the rescue of the boat and execution of the mission to attack the hijackers incongruent with his behavior with Suzanne.

As for Shen Li, he was completely believable as a candidate and a person who fell in love with a driven woman.
