The Swimming Pool by Holly LeCraw
Beautiful, lyrical writing. Voice changes kept me turning pages, trying to fit the pieces together. I was totally caught up in this book until the last page.

    Dive in and Enjoy!
Extraordinary!! The Swimming Pool by Holly LeCraw, is a spellbinding novel that is nearly impossible to put down. Love, loss, affairs, murder, and dirty little secrets will keep you turning the pages 'till the very end - and leave you still wanting more!

    Like father, like son
Like father, like son-- and so the story moves to the second generation-2 families looking for the pieces of the puzzle to life and love. Holly Lecraw's first novel draws you in from the beginning and leaves you breathless at the end. In between, she writes of fragile families, unable to communicate the truth that might complete the puzzle. Bookclubs should find this ripe for discussion.

    The Swimming Pool
This book drew me in right on its opening pages. There was a sense of mystery and of impending doom that kept me turning pages long after "reading time' was over. The characters were well fleshed out and my sympathies were with each of them in turn. As the story unfolded, I was caught up in the tangled lives surprised at the twists and turns. A page turner to the end!

    Difficult to Put Down
'The Swimming Pool' is a tragic family drama. So many horrible things happen to Marcella, the protagonist of this debut novel, that it’s amazing she is able to function. Her marriage is lost, her lover dies unexpectedly, her child is sent away, and that’s just to start. There’s also an unsolved murder that propels much of the action. Despite these tragic circumstances, this book is not all dark as a new (somewhat twisted) romance develops. This quick-paced drama is entertaining, and the shifting between past and present keeps the reader engaged. I couldn’t put this one down.

    Swimming Pool
Eight years ago Marcella was involved in an affair with a neighbor which ended with a mysterious murder. Now she is engaged in an affair with the neighbor’s son. As the author moves back and forth from the past to the present she examines the reasons that people act as they do and how people are affected by events outside their control, including the unexplained death of parents. This is a passionate love story which hooks the reader even as s/he can foresee the events. It should make a good read for women’s book clubs.
