    Crazy or not?
Is Gen crazy for thinking that those around her are keeping secret ? It has been a rough few years for Gen since losing her baby and she is starting to feel like she is ready to start living again until she is given information that her baby might still be alive.

This story kept me on the edge of my seat with fully developed characters and a great story line. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a book to keep you up at night because it is too good to put down.

    Close My Eyes
I would actually give this a 4 and 1/2 rating if I could. When I wasn't reading this book, I wanted to be reading it! It is fast-paced with an underlying urgency and a sweeping suspense that carried me along, even over a few of the rough spots that kept me from giving this a 5 rating. If you're in the mood for a mystery/thriller, definitely pick this up.

    Better Than Some
Gen is married to Art. Eight years ago she lost her baby as a stillborn or so she believes. For eight years she has whined, wept and hoped, not living her life.
If you can get through the first 100 pages or so of this book you'll find the character development superb, the plot twisty and suspenseful and very gratifying.
It just takes a while to get there and at times you'll wonder why Art or Gen's friends and family haven't insisted on therapy or hospitalization to help her through the quick sand of grief in which she is stuck.
I do wonder though when I give a book like this a 4 where would I rate something like Wuthering Heights or The Invisible Bridge? I think we need a wider number spread as on a scale of 1-10. I might then put this as a 7.

You must be patient, dear reader!
The first 100 pages of CLOSE MY EYES started very s-l-o-w-l-y for me. I must admit to a few times when I momentarily thought about stopping. My advice to you, dear reader? DON'T. Once this story gets going, it absolutely gallops. As the chapters progress, many characters weave in and out and the reader acquires one bit and then another bit and then another bit as the plot unfolds. I, for one, never saw THAT ending coming! I have to say that I even halved my daily walk routine to read a few more chapters in between sessions ... something I have never done before.
While some have compared CLOSE MY EYES to GONE GIRL and BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP, I do believe it falls short of those marks but once this book takes off, it is a run away train until the very last page. My second piece of advice, dear reader? Find a comfortable chair for the last 250 pages of this book and clear your calendar for you are "in it to finish it.!"

You will probably want to know how it ends...
I absolutely hated this book by page 70. I debated on whether to finish it or not. The writing was not great, the main character, Gen, I found really annoying...and the plot was way beyond what I could accept. So, I read other reviews. "It is slow the first 125 pages" I think I read. Okay, I will read on. At around 125 pages, I did not put it down. Now I have finished the book. I still think the writing is not that good, the main character tedious and the plot way out of bounds. But I did finish it because I wanted to know how it ended. I figured out a major plot twist way too early. I found the book very repetitious. I am glad I finished it, but am also happy it is done. It is no "Gone Girl". But if you get past page 125 you will probably want to know how it ends. And so I give it 3 stars...instead of not finishing it.

    Close My Eyes
This is a psychological suspense novel which brings to mind "Before I Go to Sleep". It is an interesting and quick read which drew you quickly into the character's lives. There were many twists and turns and a shocker ending. I felt there were too many twists making the novel implausible. I also thought the romantic relationship was a bit contrived. This mystery will be a big hit because of its suspense. Although, saying this makes me cringe - I think it will make a better movie than novel.

    Close My Eyes
The first 125 pages were so slow. I didn't find the characters likeable. Are people really as gullible as Gen? By the time the story picked up, somewhere close to the middle, I was tired of Gen's whining and no longer sympathetic. The whole thing was more far-fetched than thrilling.
