Magical and magnetic.
Mrs. Brackston's book had me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next. It was spellbinding and moving and I was very pleased with the way it all turned out. Also for a sequel to a book I hadn't read, this book stood wonderfully on it's own. I would highly recommend reading all of Mrs. Brackston's material, especially if you are a fan of all things magical.

Entertaining sequel
The Return of the Witch is a sequel to the author's debut novel, The Witch's Daughter. Having read the first book but not recently, I found the second book transitioned the reader seamlessly into the second story. Supernatural and fantastical, it's a fun read that doesn't include a lot of the over the top elements of some of her other works, such as The Silver Witch. The characters are rich and interesting and the author has a knack of fully transporting the reader into another time and place.

The Return of the Witch
I had not previously read the first book written which began the story of The Witch in a book titled The Witch's Daughter. This book had well rounded fully engaging characters and took me on a race from present day to Merry Ole England, through various other eras and into a time when being a woman or man who healed the sick and injured with various herbs cooked down to slurries and poltices could be deadly. Reading the previous book first though not a necessity, would have given me more background on the characters. I loved this fast paced, exciting, historical time traveling character book from the first page and plan to go back and read the first book..

the return of the witch
i really enjoyed this book even though I don't usually like supernatural . The author was able to combine geography, history, romance and the supernatural. All in one story which made for an exciting book. Paula Brackston is now one of my favorite authors. I also enjoyed her book Lamp Black Wolf Grey

Suspenseful Fantasy
As a newcomer to the fantasy genre, I really didn't know what to expect in The Return of the Witch, the sequel to The Witch's Daughter. But after a few pages, I was familiar with the main characters and their current problems. Author Paula Brackston's excellent descriptive writing enabled me to visualize the various locales as the characters time stepped through the centuries. I especially appreciated her details of the rituals of witchcraft and shamanism as practiced in various parts of the world as well as the accurate depiction of the historical events which played such an important role in the plot.
I would recommend this novel to book clubs for discussion of the well-developed characters and the many aspects of witchcraft. I found this suspenseful fantasy quite enjoyable and an excellent introduction to a genre which was new to me.

Fun Read
The Return of the Witch is the sequel to The Witch's Daughter. This novel fits well into the genre. The plot is sometimes one I've seen too often but the characters are thoroughly enjoyable and the story is well-written so these things make up for that. I was unable to read The Witch's Daughter and though it was quite good anyway, I would have liked to know more about everything. So read both!
