Having worked as an actress for a number of years, Mann began writing and producing her own theatrical work with the Birmingham Repertory Theatre and the Soho Writers' Lab. In 2018, she founded the not-for-profit organisation Run the World, which uses sport and theatre to empower women and girls and was born out of her experiences as a personal trainer. Her debut young adult novel Run, Rebel was a hard-hitting work about identity and domestic abuse told in verse which was shortlisted for the CILIP Carnegie Medal in 2021. Mann followed this up with another verse novel, The Crossing, which tackled themes of loss, friendship and immigration. Published to universal acclaim, The Crossing scooped the 2021 Costa Category Award for children's and young adult writing. Her debut picture book, Small's Big Dream, is published in March 2022.
