Anyone who enjoys historical fiction and loves to learn about other cultures. I simply loved this book.

Readers who enjoy historical fiction, who like to learn about other cultures, who want to learn more about this period of Iranian history.

Definitely women friends who want tolearn more about how women around the world live. And also women who want to learn more of history and the shaping of those lives. This isn't a book for "fluff" readers. It's a book of intelligence that is to be shared.

I think this book would be appropriate for Book Club discussions. It brings to light the role of women in different cultures. This book shows the growth of one woman as she faced marriage and a political involvement. The book would also lend itself to discussions on the arms race and what actually could be done today to limit escalation.

This book is a good choice for readers who are dipping their toe into reading about cultures that are not typically represented in our country. We have only recently had easy access to books from the Middle East, Africa, china, , Korea. Strength and resilience , love, grief and tragedy are universal themes.

Readers who enjoy historical fiction and learning about other cultures. I have read several books that have the middle east as their setting, it is always surprising to me how the women are treated, as we take so many freedoms for granted here. Although, it seems that women, even in America, are taking a backwards step from freedom recently.

This is chick-lit to me - appealing to a woman who is curious about other women of the world. How she takes part in historically male dominated worlds, raising children, gardening, cooking in Iran during a time of serious political change.

I think this would be a fantastic book club pick. There are many layers to dissect and so much to learn. I would think any gender could enjoy this book but I think women will gravitate towards it with its themes of feminism and motherhood.

It provides a poignant perspective on what shapes activism and political ideologies; how different people faced with the same circumstances may have completely different reactions and strategies to affect change; how there's never a one-size-fits-all solution; how things are not as black-and-white as some would expect in a simplistic world. While the backdrop of Iran in the latter part of the last century and the cultural nuances that shape all the characters add to the captivating storyline and provide yet another dimension, the human reactions, philosophy and ideologies can be seen rampant even today across almost all parts of the world.
