Masetto wants to send Rosaline to the convent right way, while Rosaline requests freedom first. Which do you believe to be the better approach to a life-altering event?

I would always want time to enjoy the known life before going into the unknown. There are people and places to imprint on your memory knowing that you will never see them again.

I would want some warning and given some time to prepare for a life-altering event.
That would be a luxury really, as most often, life-altering events happen with no notice or waring and send shockwaves through the person and others affected by the event. I think not having any notice and being forced to go somewhere or do something, would be emotionally devastating.

I would want a few days of freedom. During that freedom, you could hold onto the thought that your dad may change his mind.

I Definitely would choose days of freedom to cherish what I may be loosing, it would be emotionally traumatic to immediately loose everything you hold
dear yet as mentioned earlier by someone that’s usually how life altering events happen, so I’d given the choice…. Yes! Preferably days of freedom!!

I would definitely choose the extra time. Whether it is a few days or a few weeks, I would want freedom for as long as I could get it. In that time, I would make as many memories I could to take with me.

Like the others I would need time to reflect on what was coming and squeeze every enjoyable moment out of my present life.

I’m sure I would want a few days to mourn the life I am leaving and I’m sure I would also rebel like Rosaline did.

That is a difficult question. I think I'd have asked to visit the convent as Rosaline had but then I'd want to get it over as soon as possible.

I would definitely want some days of freedom before going. However, there is the risk that these few days might alter my agreement to go to the convent. I may have decided I could not give up my freedom.

I hate waiting and usually find that the dread, stress and angst are worse than the actual event (with which one can actually deal).

Like Rosaline I would have wanted the extra days of freedom...and likely would have tried my own scheme to get out of going to the convent!

I have to say that it would have caused a lot less problems if Rosaline had gone right away. I think maybe better to go right away and try to figure out how to escape when I was away from a parent who really didn't appear to care all that much.

RE: In the face of a life-altering event...

I would definitely choose to have a few days of freedom... and I would use my time to plot my escape! haha Unfortunately, there are many life altering events where we don't get any warning so I don't think always having a choice is an option. I'm also very grateful that there are not too many decisions that I am not an active participate in making. During the 16th century, Rosaline wasn't afforded the opportunity to decide for herself. Given that she was being sent to a convent before getting to experience more of life, I think her wish made a lot of sense. I think a great question to ask is "Is it possible to pack a lifetime of experiences in a week?" or "What are the most worthwhile experiences to have before a life altering event?"
