Afterward I stand, stretch, and tell her I have a long walk ahead of me.

"No," she says, "now you talk."

It's those times when I tell her things I tell no one else. She listens as good as she loves.

Next day, I've had hoecakes, bone soup, greens. All that and I'm still tasting Margaret. Still feeling her breath on my neck.
