Amazon has unveiled the Kindle Fire, an Android-powered tablet that will retail for $199.
"We're building premium products at non-premium prices," says Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.
The specifications are lower than high-end tablets. While the Kindle Fire has a dual-core processor, it lacks many of the other typical features found in a tablet, such as a camera, microphone, and 3G wireless access. It also only has 8 gigabytes of storage space. As such it will likely compete with Barnes & Noble's Nook Color more than Apple's iPad.
It will be available on November 15 and is available for preorder now.
Discovery consists of seeing what everybody has seen and thinking what nobody has thought.
