BookBrowse Receives Gold in Modern Library Awards

Saratoga, Calif. January 22, 2015 - BookBrowse.com announced it has received a Gold Award from LibraryWorks' prestigious Modern Library Awards.

The Modern Library Awards were created to recognize the top products in the library industry in an unbiased format. Products were submitted in the Fall using a simple application, and then were posted on a private site with an enhanced description and attendant materials. These products were batched into small groups and sent to the LRG database of more than 80,000 librarians at public, K-12, academic, and special libraries. Only customers with experience with these products in their facilities were permitted to judge the products, resulting in an unbiased score.

Each judge scored the product on a numeric basis from 1-10. Scores above a 6.5 average were issued awards based on scoring level.

"We are honored to be recognized for the services we provide to libraries and their patrons. With the large number of books published each year, it is difficult to cut through the noise - but BookBrowse.com delivers recommendations of the latest books in a wide variety of genres," said Davina Morgan-Witts, BookBrowse.com CEO and Publisher. "We also go beyond the book to deliver in-depth back stories, reading guides, readalikes, and a broad range of other resources for the ardent booklover."

As a readers advisory tool for libraries, BookBrowse delivers:

  • Reviews of fiction and non-fiction books
  • Twice monthly online magazine
  • Recommendations by genre, setting, theme, time
  • Thousands of readalikes by book and author
  • 'Beyond the Book' articles and interviews
  • Previews of notable books publishing soon
  • Resources for book clubs, including reading guides, recommendations & advice
  • One-click link to relevant book in library OPAC

"The Modern Library Awards were developed to recognize outstanding products for libraries," says Jennifer Newman, associate publisher and MLA program manager. "BookBrowse was selected as one of the leading services for librarians and being honored with the Gold distinction says a lot about how much the library marketplace values BookBrowse."
