A Child Called It: One Child's Courage to Survive
by Dave Pelzer
A Child Called It (11/25/2006)
I read your book "A Child Called It" for the first-time yesterday and it broke and touched my heart at the same time. I am a mother of 1 year-old and though I have heard and seen stories of child abuse, everytime I hear/read/see another one, I always wonder "Why?". I mean how can a mother who carries her child for 9 months stomach hurting her child, in whatever form of abuse?

I salute you because you rose above your anger and hate and forgave your mother.

I congratulate you because you are a walking success and a walking testament to the words "Nothing is impossible" .. nothing is impossible when you want to live...I would like to share with you that there was a time when my family was financially strapped and we had no food to eat. That incident/situation made me say to myself "I will work hard to make sure that I will never go hungry again". I am proud to say that I am the breadwinner of my family.

Anyway, again thank you for reassuring me also that there people like you out there and if there..the world's not such a bad place to live in then.
