I was deeply affected by Mende's book. Once I started reading it I could not put it down and read it late into the night. She is a courageous young lady, and whilst reading this book, i wanted to put my arms around her and give her comfort and protect her from the appalling …more cruelty shown to her. Growing up in Ireland in the 70's, I thought we had it hard - compared to this , we lived and do live like lords. Her deep appreciation for the most simple things in life, should be a lesson to us all. Well done Mende, you achieved what you needed to with this book, and should be proud. (less)
