The Russian Dreambook of Color and Flight
by Gina Ochsner
Entertaining (1/4/2010)
Dreambook was entertaining to read. I am not very familiar with Russian culture, but a relative recently spent 3 months in Moscow, and his views of the Russian population's collective psyche were mirrored in the book. Recommended reading.
A Short History of Women: A Novel
by Kate Walbert
Slow but enjoyable (6/14/2009)
Not a page turner, but worth the effort. It was rich in detail that I am certain I did not fully absorb. I will save it for a while and read it again to put all of the pieces together.
While My Sister Sleeps
by Barbara Delinsky
How can she sleep with so much talking? (12/9/2008)
During what could potentially be a fascinating story about a nightmare-scenario crisis in the Snow family, the author repeatedly throws an attention-deficit plagued dialogue at the reader. Although the plot was compelling and I had no trouble sticking with the book until the end - with few exceptions, the characters never felt complete. It is an easy and forgettable read which I would recommend only if you are seeking shallow treatment of a very compelling situation.
