The Wives of Henry Oades (12/9/2009)
This is an excellent book that I would very highly recommend! The author portrayed the two wives and the husband in such a way that I could see each one, their situations, viewpoints and feelings very clearly. I really felt for these people. Knowing that this story was based on true events, I just couldn't put the book down!
This is a book that is absolutely unforgettable!
Serena: A Novel
by Ron Rash
Serena (9/8/2009)
I love to read. . I'm never without a book or two - and I love to discover new authors. Many times I read a book and enjoy it, (or don't think much about it), then it is lost to my memory.

This is a book that I will never forget.

I was transported to a North Carolina logging camp in the depression era. This was a book of stark contrasts. The beauty of the land vs. it's stripped, harsh ugliness. The violent greed of ambitious people who will not let anybody get in their way. A needy young mother's selfless love. The evil of people who appeared to have everything. Love and hate, beauty and ugliness, greed and benevolence.

A beautifully written, action filled, emotion filled book.

A great book that you will read and remember.
Something Like Beautiful: One Single Mother's Story
by Asha Bandele
Something Like Beautiful (12/10/2008)
This book took me to places that I've never been, and gave me a new understanding of the challenges some people have. The author related her feelings and experiences in an honest, heartfelt way. With a lump in my throat, I kept reading and rooting for this amazing woman.

I will certainly recommend this book to all my friends. Thank you.

The House at Riverton: A Novel
by Kate Morton
The House at Riverton (5/7/2008)
This book painted a picture of a different time and place- with characters so vividly drawn that I had to remind myself this was fiction. The plot intensified as the story unfolded- I haven't read a book like this in years....romance, suspense, a different place and time in history.
