Stones into Schools: Promoting Peace with Books, Not Bombs, in Afghanistan and Pakistan
by Greg Mortenson
Even better (3/17/2010)
Even better than Three Cups of Tea, Mr. Mortenson continues his journey and his passion in a humble, no-nonsense manner. You feel his exhaustion, frustrations, fears and jubilation as he guides you through Afghanistan and Pakistan - and back and forth to his family. I honestly don't know how he does it! Our book club will be attending his visit next week and we can hardly wait. Both books should be required reading in every high school everywhere. I pray for his continued success and hope for another book.
Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea
by Barbara Demick
A Must Read! (3/2/2010)
This is a "must read" for everyone no matter the age, origin, gender or geographical location. You can't help coming away feeling humble - on so many planes and for so many reasons. I am in awe, witnessing the human spirit through Barbara's text. A true eye-opener. A great text for teachers and book clubs.

Barbara Demick is to be applauded for her years of research, interviews, travels, and dedication to a country and a part of history that must be told. I could not put this book down.
