Low Town: A Novel
by Daniel Polansky
Great Vacation Reading... (5/31/2011)
Polansky creates quite an interesting character in The Warden and gives readers a lot to sink their teeth into with his vivid imagery and action filled plot. Difficult to put down, Low Town is great vacation reading... I hope to see The Warden again very soon.
A Good Hard Look: A Novel
by Ann Napolitano
A Good Hard Look Looks Good (4/18/2011)
Napolitano's insight into the lives of Flannery O'Conner and the townspeople of Midgeville really gives readers something to sink their teeth into. The people, the events and the dialog are believable and easy for the reader to relate to. Flannery's cynical observations hurt because they are truthful and to see the downward spiral of all the characters becomes a reflection of Flannery's own feelings about her health and loneliness. However, the ending leaves readers with just the right amount of hope that everything will turn out ok.
Romancing Miss Bronte: A Novel
by Juliet Gael
A Novel of Merit (3/6/2010)
Romancing Miss Bronte provides a convincing, yet tragic, portrayal of the Bronte sisters. Juliet Gael brings the women to life again for fans of Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre as she provides a rare look into the literary lives of moral women who walk the line between duty to their father and the fear of personal success. Gael's exploration of the connections between the literary characters and their authors provides fans with a rare and wondrous look into the hearts, minds, and souls of the Brontes.
