The Map of True Places
by Brunonia Barry
The Map of True Places by Brunonia Barry (4/11/2010)
I liked this book, the story within a story. Barry is a good writer and creates interesting characters. The book has a lot things happening which makes it a interesting read.
Farm City: The Education of an Urban Farmer
by Novella Carpenter
Farms in Oakland??? (3/17/2010)
This was a fascinating book for two reasons - growing and raising farm animals in Oakland, CA and the desire to raise your own food.
As I read the book, I decided I have no desire to do what Novella did but really admire her tenacity. I would love to see more city gardens, I think this is a great idea.
Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet: A Novel
by Jamie Ford
Good but not great (3/17/2010)
While I felt this was a well written and researched book but it was definitely flat. For me it never hit the depth that I believe the author was looking for.

I fell this is a timely subject and will be looking for something with a little more depth. Great first novel.
