At All Costs
by David Weber
overlong derivative pulp sadly (9/19/2010)
Hats off to Mr Weber for his industry but as someone who has flipped over too many of his pages I'm unexcited and unimpressed by him. The HH series could have been great fun but dragged its sorry ass until you hoped its central characters would get killed off and release you from the tedium

Empire of man was no better. I started it hoping he'd found his feet so to speak and wondered why I bothered when there were so many good authors you could be reading the rave reviews I've seen of him could only have been written by his friends, publicists or children in my opinion.

To compare him to C.S. Forrester Patrick O'Brein and Alexander Kent is an insult to them and others intelligence. Anyone who has read books by authors of true quality
will find his books like B movies. Ok and better than nothing if your housebound or stuck in an airport but I found myself wanting to shout "Economy of style Dummy !!!" at Mr W on many occasions and MORE ISNT BETTER !

He gets a disinterested Meh ! from me as I go in search of better authors.
