The Bucolic Plague: How Two Manhattanites Became Gentlemen Farmers: An Unconventional Memoir
by Josh Kilmer-Purcell
A heartwarming, "feel good" book! (4/22/2011)
In today's fast-paced world, it was a pleasure to read a "real" book, about "real" people dramatically changing their lives from the fast-paced New York lifestyle to rolling hills, goats and farming. Josh introduces us to interesting characters, such as his partner Brent (a former doctor and a regular on Martha Stewart's show as Dr. Brent), Farmer John (a gentle farmer with a warm heart and a LOT of goats), Polka Spot (their adopted diva llama), their new friends, and their unexpected new life in Sharon Springs, NY. This book is entertaining, funny, bittersweet, amusing, and charming. But most of all, it is "real"! I found myself cheering the Beekman Boys on, wanting them to succeed at every new task they take on. I am now an avid fan of theirs!
