Proof of Heaven: A Novel
by Mary Curran Hackett
Proof of Heaven (9/10/2011)
Sorry to say, not one of my favorites. Although I lost interest several times I continued to read! I felt the characters reacted as any parent/family would. The entire book seemed "weak". I felt as if I was left hanging when I finished.
Folly Beach: A Lowcountry Tale
by Dorothea Benton Frank
Folly Beach (6/23/2011)
Living in the landlocked state of Wyoming I love to read about the East Coast! "Folly Beach" is my first read by author Dorothea Benton Frank. I am very excited to find another author who writes so descriptively about coastal living. She painted very vivid pictures of the environment while keeping the pace of the story line moving along, no dragging. This was a great summer read for me and I am already searching out more novels by the author!
Friendship Bread: A Novel
by Darien Gee
Friendship Bread (3/13/2011)
Winter has been especially long and harsh this year in Wyoming. Friendship Bread was a fresh, thought provoking treat! I am anxious to share this title with friends. A universal message written with colorful imagery; I welcome more work by the author, Darien Gee.
The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul: A Novel
by Deborah Rodriguez
A Cup of Friendship (11/24/2010)
I enjoy exploring different cultures in my pleasure reading. This novel is filled with the rich and fascinating culture of Afghanistan. I found the imagery vivid and breathtaking. The author did an excellent job of bringing forth the ongoing problem of the oppression of women in Afghanistan. I enjoyed every page and look forward to reading more by Deborah Rodriguez. This would make an excellent choice for a book club.
