This book brought me to the brink of tears many times. The green monster "Greed" reared it's ugly head and the innocent young girls were forced to live a life of hell on earth. The things that human beings do to one another is shocking. I will remember this book long after it's put back on the shelf.
A Good American: A Novel
by Alex George
A Good American(12/28/2011)
I have read this book and found it to be charming and sad and funny. The family coming to America and learning the language and habits of Americans and how to get along is inspiring. It moves along at a good pace and keeps the reader interested from begining to end.
The Dressmaker: A Novel
by Kate Alcott
The Dressmaker by Kate Alcott(9/29/2011)
This book is Historical Fiction at it's best. I received it yesterday and finished it today. I love a book I can't put down and this one kept me up till the wee hours. Tess is spunky, honest and daring. Not afraid to go after what she want's and that's to be a dressmaker.
This is the age old story of two brothers in love with the same woman. I had hoped for more insight into the Holocaust but the mystery surrounding the story was interesting. The ending was not a surprise and easily guessed at early on. I probably would not recommend it to friends.
This is a novel of love and heartache. A book that I couldn't put down until I had finished it. The author shows such insight into the human emotions of the characters that it captures you from the very beginning.
This book was a great read. Descriptions of Italy were wonderful and the plot was engrossing. An interesting story about Romeo and Juliet all though it did stretch the imagination.
I loved this book, it has everything - love, drama horror, suspense. I would compare it to Jodi Picoult's books. Sat down to take a look at it and read non stop till the end. Will look forward to more from this author.
