Indiscretion

Predictable (11/11/2012)
There were no surprises in this book. No twists and no turns - nothing that left me guessing or even caring about the outcome. The sequence of events and consequences were totally predictable. I managed to make it through the book but I will not be recommending it to my reading friends.
Live by Night
by Dennis Lehane
Fantastic Read! (9/9/2012)
What a book! This was my first time reading a book by this author and I will definitely read more. It's seems rare anymore that I become fully immersed in a story and its characters while totally losing track of time. Live by Night was one of those rare books. Its beautifully written with underlying moral dilemmas, complex characters and even a love story thrown in. Live by Night is a fantastic read.
The Age of Miracles: A Novel
by Karen Thompson Walker
It captured me on the very first page.... (6/3/2012)
A beautiful book. It captured me on the very first page as it realistically captured the normal insecurities of an eleven year old girl and her fears in dealing with a world falling apart. As the earth's rotation slows, the events of everyday life are no longer certain. The things she could always count on are no longer so. Not only is it easy to draw parallels with the world in which we are all living, the sequence of events in the book all seem entirely feasible. While reading I found myself feeling that I was in the altered world in which the characters lived.

I started reading the book on a Saturday morning and did not put it down until I finished. The story unfolds in a way that makes it easy to see how these events could happen. I found myself thinking about the book long after I finished. A sure sign of a great book.
The Red Book: A Novel
by Deborah Copaken Kogan
The Red Book - I Wanted to Like It (3/4/2012)
I really wanted to like this book, however, it never really grabbed me. The characters came off as shallow and self-absorbed. Their Red Book entries were the best part of the book - seeing the way in which they viewed or, more precisely, wanted others to view their lives. The book was difficult for me to finish and I found myself picking up and putting down the book quite a bit. It was difficult to get through the entire book and if it hadn't been for this review I probably would not have finished it.
