The Look of Love: A Piper Donovan Mystery
by Mary Jane Clark
The Look of Love (11/21/2011)
It was a pleasure to revisit with Piper Donovan. This time she is off to Los Angeles to make a wedding cake for the Director of Elysium, a world renown Spa owned by her plastic surgeon father. The added bonus is a free plane ticket and accommodations at the spa. There can't be a Piper Donovan novel without a murder and mystery. Although this was a fast paced easy read, it makes one ponder having elective plastic surgery.
Folly Beach: A Lowcountry Tale
by Dorothea Benton Frank
Folly Beach (6/11/2011)
Dorthea Benton Frank takes us back to low country. This time we have the bonus of aquainting ourselves with George Gershwin, Dorthy Heyward and her husband DuBose. They were all involved with the writing of "Porgy" in 1925. It all came about after Cate, a new widow in contemporary times, moved to Folly Isand and lived in a tiny cottage named "Porgy House," where the Heywards once lived. The two time periods were intertwined beautifully.
Secret Daughter: A Novel
by Shilpi Somaya Gowda
Secret Daughter (1/21/2010)
This is a wonderful heart warming multicultural story that spans 20 years. Readers will enjoy reading and discussing the difference in American and modern Indian cultures. The common thread of love of a child will appeal to all ages. The glossary at the back of the books is helpful.
South of Broad
by Pat Conroy
South of Broad (9/23/2009)
Pat Conroy has done it again. I was completely immersed in the book. The characters were described so well, I felt as if I knew each one. His love of Charleston is strongly sensed by the reader.

How wonderful for a group of friends to be so strongly bonded. An excellent book.
