The Caretaker

A Cape Cod Caper (4/16/2013)
Interesting book. It reminded me of a Norman Mailer screenplay in Provincetown. I found the military flashbacks a little jarring and the plot was fairly formulaic. The best part for me was the cultural dynamics between the locals between Ranjit as well as the Senator and even in Ranjit's family.....
Where You Can Find Me: A Novel

Surrogate Families (2/8/2013)
What a great read! Caleb, recently found after being kidnapped by pederasts, is safely home again. The family dynamics have changed with a vengeance! The book is about how families reconstitute themselves after horrific tragedies. I highly recommend this wise book
Ghostman

Hold on Tight! (12/24/2012)
A great read. Read it one sitting. Escapist fare taut with action. I highly recommend this book. Well written. Interesting characters would love to see a sequel.
Sharp: A Memoir
by David Fitzpatrick
To the Dark Place and Back Again (7/8/2012)
Sharp should not be considered in any way as a frothy beach read or a part of that esteemed genre. Sharp is a harrowing account of a person's descent into a very dark place demanding of self mutilations and self torture. To travel there and back is a mesmeric journey of pain and ultimately of transcendence making for a life changing read.
Niceville: A Novel
by Carsten Stroud
"unputdownable" (5/17/2012)
Not a word but describes my reaction to the book! I agree with Mr. Leonard when he wrote that it's a great read! Reminded me of a Robert Altman film with all kinds of unharmonic convergences on many different planes. Am at a loss to describe my reaction but I highly recommend it for a wild ride in anything but Niceville.
