The Same Sky
by Amanda Eyre Ward
The Same Sky...Great book!!!(11/18/2014)
I was lucky that I picked up this book the night we changed the clocks back--it gave me an extra hour of uninterrupted reading. I kept wondering how these two lives were going to intersect. FABULOUS! I have two questions...Would a 12 year-old really be able to live alone and care for a younger sibling with no family, friends or government to help them out? Question number 2. In the end, was it chance or did they know each other? This book made me proud for Carla for being brave. Proud for Alice for accepting that "...it's the way it is."
The House We Grew Up In
by Lisa Jewell
Great Book...Hope my house never looks like that!(3/31/2014)
I think everyone fears living in a delicate situation. Lisa Jewell did an excellent job developing the characters in such a way that the reader really cares about them. I also enjoyed the addition of the Internet "dating/friend" of the Mother...it added an interesting insight to the Mother that we would not have had otherwise. In the end, keeping all of the stuff makes perfect sense.
I really enjoyed the book. I did want more out of the ending. I do think the characters were developed nicely. I really just wanted a little more meat out of the ending...
The Sisterhood
by Helen Bryan
Great Story Line...(6/16/2013)
It was the "voices" of the different characters that I had a hard time distinguishing. I felt that the women from earlier eras in the book would have had a more formal tone. I often found myself having to backtrack to figure out who was "speaking." I was captivated by what was happening and enjoyed how things connected.
Where You Can Find Me by Sheri Joseph is a great idea, but I found it confusing at times. At least four times while reading the book, I found myself going back to see if I had missed a page because what I was reading didn't make sense. I also found the plot line disturbing as a parent, yet I couldn't put the book down. I did read it and I did want to know how it ended. I did like most of the characters.
