Caught in the Revolution: Petrograd, Russia, 1917 - A World on the Edge
by Helen Rappaport
Caught in a revolution (12/7/2016)
This well researched book provides a different perspective of the Russian revolution. Rappaport's account depicts the mayhem, chaos and murder that takes place in the early 1900's. Rappaport provides a different perspective of the Russian revolution, and history buffs will enjoy this book.
Edgar and Lucy
by Victor Lodato
Edgar and Lucy (12/7/2016)
This emotional story about a dysfunctional family focuses on eight year old Edgar. The over bearing grandmother, and Edgar's remote mother create such a tragic environment that it's difficult to engage with the story. But, this changes after the first hundred pages. I found this book well written, and impactful.
The Last Confession of Thomas Hawkins
by Antonia Hodgson
The last confession of ThomsHawkins (1/6/2016)
Readers who like mystery and historical fiction will enjoy this book. This book will keep you guessing who did it through out.

Thomas who was recently released from prison is intent on reforming himself. But things don't quite work out as planned. Eventually, the queen of England requires his services, and his life is changed forever.

With all the twist and turns, everyone becomes a suspect. This is the first book that I've read by this author, and I'm looking forward to the next.
The Return of the Witch
by Paula Brackston
The return of the witch (1/6/2016)
I would encourage readers to read the first book before reading this one. There are a number of references and inferences to the first book, and had wished that's I had read it.

Readers who enjoy historical fiction, time traveling, romance, and fantasy will enjoy this book.

Although readers know the outcome, It's the journey that everyone captivate readers.

I'm looking forward to the next book.
The Silver Witch
by Paula Brackston
Silver Witch (2/17/2015)
This is the first book that I read from this author. Once I settled into the parallel stories of the characters, I found myself drawn in. I will definitely read more books from this author, and will recommend this to other readers.
The Rebellion of Miss Lucy Ann Lobdell
by William Klaber
The Rebellion of Miss Lucy Ann Lobdell (12/28/2014)
Although this gets off to a slow start, do not put this book down!!! Lucy who sets off to be a 'man' in the mid-1900's, this book reveals the trials and prejudices as she explores her sexuality. Although her identity is revealed, one can rejoice in her fortitude. This is a great book for those who enjoy historical ficton. A great book for book clubs.....
