Lands of Lost Borders: A Journey on the Silk Road
by Kate Harris
Inspiration to get out and explore (8/26/2018)
The author writes with plenty of wit, which I think you need to possess when dealing with many of the hurdles that she and her friend encountered on their cycling journey along the Silk Road. One can only imagine the hindrances in obtaining tourist visas for former Soviet-bloc countries and attempting entry into China-controlled Tibet. Very enjoyable read.
The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper

EXCELLENT READ (5/7/2016)
I thoroughly enjoyed this charming little book. It explores the themes of trust, adventure, loss & family. It'll make you laugh & cry. I think that fans of "Major Pettigrew's Last Stand" would really enjoy this book.
Major Pettigrew's Last Stand: A Novel

CHARMING STORY (6/20/2015)
The story was very charming....I really enjoyed the characters, some very likeable and some not so very likeable. The storyline was really clever. I highly recommend the book to everyone.
The Fair Fight
by Anna Freeman
emotionally engaging (5/23/2015)
The story is told in the voice of a different character for each chapter with one character being of the wealthy elite while another is of the down trodden poor. The author uses great descriptive language to show the disparity between these two classes as well as between the perceived societal mores and the actual mores of each class. For example, men of 'quality' don't always act in a gentlemanly like manner. I mean one of the settings for this novel is a brothel. There is plenty of dirty goings-on, so be prepared for some coarse language as well.

The novel isn't just about female boxing, but an exploration of finding your identity within your class. I really enjoyed it.
The Hangman's Daughter
by Oliver Potzsch
Wanting More of This (1/19/2015)
I'm a huge fan of history and just loved the whole premise of this book. With science and medicine still in their infancy stages, the superstitious mind was the order of the day in 17th century Bavaria. Times were rife with witchcraft, torture and violence.
Only Time Will Tell: The Clifton Chronicles #1
by Jeffrey Archer
Great Start to a New Series (1/19/2015)
Not all the characters in this novel are likeable, but that's what makes it a real page turner. Plenty of suspenseful drama makes this book a great start to a new series that I'm really looking forward to reading.
