Every Exquisite Thing
by Matthew Quick
life-changing (6/7/2016)
Honestly, this book should be way more popular than it is, at least among teenagers. I know as soon as it becomes a movie its popularity will explode, but until then I'm happy to have it be my own little paradise of a book. Nanette perfectly put into words the isolation I have felt in my entirety of high school. I felt like I was the only person who didn't want to blindly walk into life after high school, I didn't want to be the traditional high school student that went to college immediately after they graduated. And I was shocked that Nanette felt this exact same need to discover herself and her true passions so she could pursue pure passions. It has given me the reassurance to not be satisfied with everyone else's standards, but be true to myself and be who I want to be. This is a truly inspiring and life-changing novel, props to Matthew Quick for being able to resonate so deeply with someone in an age group that is hard to connect with.
