The Secret Ingredient of Wishes

The Secret Ingredient of Wishes by Susan Bishop Crispell(7/27/2016)
I very much enjoyed this book, it was like a grown up Brothers Grimm story. Kind of predictable but fun anyway. I liked the way the characters developed very much and could almost smell the pies! If only there was such a place as Nowhere!
Oh my, I thought I was going to dislike this book. I was very wrong, it is very well written, the author knows her subjects very well.
The story line moved so fluidly, I found myself rooting for characters that I had no intention of liking.
The title UGLY and WONDERFUL says it all. I couldn't put it down. The moral..don't rush to judge what you do not know or understand. Can't wait for the movie!
If you like mystery or historical novels this is the one to read. It kept my interest for most of the book, It did bog down a bit after about 1/2 way through but I would recommend this highly. It would especially be a great book club selection and I think it is the one I will choose when it's my turn. Looking forward to more from this author.
Salvation of a Saint

Salvation of a Saint by Keigo Higashino(9/18/2012)
This was very well written, the crime and how it was solved was really excellent. I knew who the murderer was from the beginning, which took some of the fun out for me. I like to find out "who done it" right along with the detectives. It was fun that this was not an American or British detective/mystery novel. The differences in perspective and lifestyles were interesting to think about. I enjoyed reading this and would recommend it highly.
Shine Shine Shine: A Novel
by Lydia Netzer
Shine Shine Shine(6/27/2012)
I highly recommend this book. It takes a few chapters to settle into this unusual love story, but believe me, you will be rewarded. It is a tale where being different is the norm. I love brave bald Sunny, her autistic son Bubber, her astronaut husband Maxim who also shows signs of autism. Sounds odd doesn't it? Well it works! You will be so glad that you were allowed into the lives of these extraordinary people. I for one cannot wait for more from Ms Netzer.
