There is a sense of intense sadness but also beauty that is conveyed in this tragically inspiring novel. To be allowed into the mind of a teenage boy facing one of the most unthinkable fates, was incredibly eye opening. As I read, I became increasingly attached to and empathetic towards a boy who was always fated to die. Sora is more than just a character in this novel. He is a poignant representation of our fear of our inevitable deaths, our fear of one day becoming a shell of who we once were, and our fear of becoming a burden to our families. This is a story I will take with me for the rest of my life and one that I would recommend to anyone.
