I don't know if I am missing something, but I found this book a struggle to read. I had no idea what was going on, what was happening, etc.

From what I gather, the story is about Erica, who is still dealing with her mom's death, her brother, Bobby, and Jimmy, Erica's boyfriend, who she hopes to marry. After Erica's mom leaves her some money, the three take off for Hydra. Her mom's friend, Charmian, who lives on the island with her husband, George, and their children, takes Erica under her wing. It seems everyone is a writer and has had their books published, or waiting to have them published.

For me, this book was a struggle to read. I just could not follow the story line or the characters. I'm sorry I could not give a more positive review, but this book was way over my head. I will come back to it another time.

I am a big fan of historical fiction novels. And I've been to Key West several times and loved the quirky lifestyle. Best of both worlds!

Mirta, a Cuban from a once very wealthy family, is on her honeymoon with a man she barely knows.

Elizabeth, looking for her brother who never returned after WWI, and running away from her gangster fiance.

The women's paths cross unexpectedly during the worst storm to hit the Keys.

It kept me guessing until the very end. I really enjoyed reading this book.

This was a fun book to read. Don't mean "fun" like "haha", it kept my interest going.

The story takes place in 1982 and present. Viv, who left home, makes a wrong turn on her way to NYC and ends up in a town named Fell. She ends up as a night clerk at an old hotel, where a woman's body had been dumped, before the hotel was built, and a young boy died in the pool. And they have not moved on.

Years later, Viv's niece, Carly, looking to find out what happened to her aunt, shows up in the town of Fell. And she ends up as the overnight clerk at the Sun Down Motel. As she tries to figure out what happened that night her aunt disappeared, she just about becomes a victim also.

I'll be staying at newer hotels from now on!

I am a big fan of historical fiction, especially from WWII era. And I love fashion ... a good mix!
This was the story of Coco Chanel and Elsa Schiaparelli, Paris' two leading designers, leading up to the Nazi occupation of this beautiful city. Add a recent American widow visiting her brother, who somehow got mixed up in the designers' rivalry.
The story spans the pre-war days to America's involvement to life after for Lily, Coco & Elsa.
If you are a fashion history buff, this book should be on your reading list.

I'm a big fan of historical fiction.
This is the story of Rosa - a food taster for Hitler. Her husband is in the war, she's had to leave her happy Berlin home to move in with her in-laws. And she and a group of women are eating to save Hitler from being poisoned.
And then she begins a "relationship" with one of the SS commanders.
Sounds crazy to say I enjoyed this book, considering it's subject. But I found myself staying up later than I should have to just read the next chapter.
I think it would be a great book club read.

The story covers a span of 30 years of several families on Wintrop Isand, who are all somehow intertwined because of Hugh Fisher, Sr. It's old money vs. working folks, summer residents vs. permanent residents.

Miranda, who's mom is about to marry old man Fisher, is thrown into a life that she is not really prepared for. She becomes a part of a tragedy that forces her to leave the island for 2 decades. When Miranda returns years later, she figures out that her stepdad is basically the cause of all the craziness.

I wish I liked the story more; to me, some parts were just too confusing or did not make sense to the storyline. But I'm sure it will be a popular beach read.

Story of Marisol, visiting Cuba to bury her grandmother's ashes. In the midst of this, she learns of her grandmother's relationship with a revolutionary during Castro's takeover. And much more of her family "secrets", and, she falls in love with Luis.
I liked the two stories - Marisol's and her grandmother, Elisa. How different their lives were, but how similiar they become.

I'll be honest ... read first few pages and thought do I want to continue? As I read further, I started to enjoy it more. I liked the alternating between past & present between Nell & her greedy family members and a love triangle among May, Ambrose & Ethan, Nell's ancestors. Good beach read; wonder if it will become a movie?
