The Hate U Give
by Angie Thomas
Speechless (10/17/2018)
As I was reading “The Hate You Give” this summer not only was I stunned but I was amazed. Even though in the first few chapters the pages had gotten wet. The way they described the characters feelings and emotion was by far phenomenal and outstanding. The way they told the story of the two best friends and how they grew up together and how he was in love with her but didn’t have a chance to express his feelings. Not only did the book explain gun violence in a way that even the literate can understand but even the African Americans can relate too. The girl power in this book for not only black females but also anyone not feeling right, believing in something and not being scared to show it. Helping others that don’t know how to or that are afraid to speak out and say what they mean can read this book and get the courage. Being African American and a female and being 17 also living in a bad neighborhood I can relate to a lot of things going on in this book. That makes me enjoy it even more. Angie Thomas is an amazing author and deserves the best of the best. I can’t wait to watch the movie and compare and just enjoy.
