The Affairs of the Falcóns
by Melissa Rivero
Undocumented Struggle (1/23/2019)
Leaving a country homeland to seek a dream for a better life is full of sacrifice, secrecy and despair to begin a long & complicated route to a new life.
Desires to find solace & work with no legal documentation in an American city is scary.
Many secrets kept hidden, but the most noticeable is trying to make a little subsistence to cover themselves with a roof over their heads, a place to lay their heads to sleep, and a table where they can eat. This day to day activity has to be done in secret.
A Ladder to the Sky: A Novel
by John Boyne
How far would you go? (11/15/2018)
This was an intriguing novel. Handsome people seem to know how to utilize their looks and take immeasurable means to get ahead, no matter what the cost. This novel kept me in suspense and in the end, the main character, despite being held accountable, preyed once again on another’s creative work.
The Kinship of Secrets
by Eugenia Kim
Family bonds are hard to break (11/7/2018)
The title for this book is appropriate. Deep-rooted secrets kept for decades through family ties. Secrets kept from Grandmother to mother to daughters die hard. Sacrifices through generations to be admired for survival. Family bonds remain strong even through estrangement.
Our House

This book bring us into a world of secrets, fraud and unimaginable events in a marriage. Perfect for book clubs; lots to discuss, from different points of view.

1950s to 1960s, Winthrop Island, on the New England East Coast is where the wealthly spend their summers. The local Portuguese families earn their wages catering to the wealthy. The summer families and the local working class try to stay out of each others way, but two half sisters find their way into a young, aspiring college boys life that leads to catastophe and heartache.
