It's hard to feel any sympathy for Diana and Unity, though the author does a decent job of portraying their insecurities. When we wonder how so many people could support someone like Hitler or Mussolini, I think the current political situations in many countries can show how that came about. (less)

The book is both funny and heart-wrenching, but never maudlin. The author is a relateable everywoman who faces incredible challenges. Some essays were very moving.
