The Giver
by Lois Lowry
Shock Stilled (11/30/2020)
Bringing this book home to read, I had no idea what it would contain. My father recognized the book immediately after being told about it a while back by my aunt who had read it. He told me to give him the book immediately, and naturally I asked why. I gave him the book waiting for my answer. He opens the book to a page and starts reading. I was shocked. I had no idea that this would be contained in a "children's book". My father and mother had a talk with my teacher and heard her point of view of the book. She said that that very graphic abortion part in the book shows what can happen when 1 person is in charge. My parents realized that she had a point and let me continue reading the book. This book was great and I give it 5 STARS. It was worth reading. Thank you Lois Lowry for this book. It was written well and with good intentions.
