Strong Passions: A Scandalous Divorce in Old New York
by Barbara Weisberg
Strong Passions(1/1/2024)
This book hooked me from the first page, and I couldn't read it fast enough. Sometimes non-fiction can be dry, but this book reads like a novel. Such a well-written and well-researched book on a divorce from the 1800s - when divorce was scandalous. I really enjoyed reading …more this one and feel as if it would appeal to a very large audience. Very good book!(less)
The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder
by David Grann
The Wager(4/22/2023)
I found this book to be well researched, well-written and extremely easy to read. It was actually quite a thrilling read to be honest. It felt more like I was reading an adventure book than a nonfiction book. The beginning was slow for me to get into, but once the boats set …more sail, the pacing picked up immensely and I was hooked at that point. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one.(less)
The Lies I Tell: A Novel
by Julie Clark
The Lies I Tell(5/10/2022)
After reading The Last Flight and absolutely loving it I was really looking forward to The Lies I Tell. And it does not disappoint at all! I absolutely loved every minute of this book. I thought I had this all figured out only to realize I was way off. It was full of lots …more of twists and turns. I loved it! Highly recommended!!(less)
Yale Needs Women: How the First Group of Girls Rewrote the Rules of an Ivy League Giant
by Anne Gardiner Perkins
Fascinating book(7/25/2021)
I found this book to be fascinating and easily readable. I learned so many new things and would definitely recommend this book to others!
The Three Mothers: How the Mothers of Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and James Baldwin Shaped a Nation
by Anna Malaika Tubbs
The Three Mothers(12/11/2020)
I was quite excited to read this book. I spent a good deal of time in college researching the Civil Rights Era, so I had a lot of interest going into this one. To be clear it's a well-written, well-researched, and overall good read. However, it reads and feels very much …more like a dissertation. The potential with this subject matter was very much there, but the execution of it will not necessarily garner a large audience.(less)
