I loved Panther Gap. The book is a page turner and held me captive till the end.
I devoured the it in two days. This book has something for everyone : crime, cartels, secrets, mysteries, mysticism, etc I found the plot very intriguing.
The relationship between the father and his son and daughter was fascinating. The descriptions of the land in Colorado called Panther Gap were wonderful. They made me want to find this special place and live there. I think many book clubs would enjoy Panther Gap and it would create lively discussions on many levels. I went on to read his other book Bear Claw and enjoyed that too. If you like Don Winslow, this is a book for you. Yet despite all of these wonderful comments, the book switched back and forth too many times for me. Many times I was left hanging and caught myself saying "wait what?" If there was a half star rating I would have given a 4.5, instead I gave it a 4 star rating.

I found this a sweet story. It would be a good bookclub book if your group likes more of a simplistic story. There are definitely things to discuss. This book deals with life's struggles and loss. I found the pace slow and the characters rather boring. She did however show how important libraries are to small communities. I found there were parts I wanted to be more expanded and others to know less about.

American Dirt captivated me from the moment i read the first page. Literally I could not put the book down. There were so many twists and turns that were totally unpredictable. This is a profound and compelling story of a mother's love for her son and the obstacles she overcomes to keep them both alive. I could feel the character's angst and rode with them their roller coaster of extreme emotions and stupendous struggles. I was overwhelmed by the precariousness of what had been a solid family life. At night I would wonder if I could survive their circumstance. This book put in perspective how the cartels are destroying so many peoples lives and why they would rather die on the run than live in their country.
I love this book and would recommend it to everyone. I think it would be an excellent choice for book clubs as it would prove great discussions, I give this book 5 starts,but would give more if there were more to give.
It is one of the best books I have read in a long time.
