Three Days in June: A Novel
by Anne Tyler
From the 1st page on you will be captivated! (12/18/2024)
In 2 readings I finished this delightful but sad novel. Gail Baines was quite an incredible woman, both deeply insecure yet not afraid of expressing her opinion. Anne Tyler captivates us with her wonderful style of writing. A great read!!
Lucy by the Sea: A Novel
by Elizabeth Strout
unexpected surprises (9/17/2023)
I really liked and enjoyed reading Lucy By The Sea. Not at all complicated and was easy reading. Lucy was a bit manipulative but managed to get what she wanted. I personally think the author took Covid too far....I guess there would not be a story if she did otherwise. William was a little off-putting but still I liked his character, I do like the way the author phrases....to the point and short paragraphs. Now I will read O William and get a better handle on who William is.
Delicate Condition
by Danielle Valentine
Exhausting but very readable (8/2/2023)
First impression was “not another rosemary’s baby”. It was almost unbelievable for Allison to experience through her pregnancy all the horrible things that were happening to her body. One can’t help but question all of her friends associates and husband. The ending was not expected but compulsive writing makes this a real thriller.
Hotel Cuba: A Novel
by Aaron Hamburger
wanting to read from 1st page on (4/18/2023)
I really enjoyed reading Hotel Cuba. what impressed me the most was first the authors descriptions and then Pearl's impressions followed by her after thoughts. Unfortunately she played the victim in situations and why she couldn't put her past behind her. She accepted the handouts given to her yet guilty taking them. Frieda cut her ties and found a new life.....I have 50 pages more to go and am still wondering if Pearl found the life she was so eager to have upon coming to America.
Margot: A Novel
by Wendell Steavenson
Poor Little Rich girl (1/11/2023)
I did enjoy reading the book especially at the beginning...wading thru it was a slippery slope. Mother/daughter relationships can be treacherous...this mother was a witch with little hope of changing. At times, I could not fully understand Margot's friendships as her neediness was obvious to the reader. I found that her education at Radcliff became tedious and her interest in science became boring. I'm hoping that after the book was finished she found the love she was searching for.
Honor
by Thrity Umrigar
remembering India (1/3/2022)
If you read A Space Between US you will enjoy this book.
The characters were well defined and the country described as I remembered it. The second half of the book got me totally involved. Enjoy!

love..... (10/14/2021)
I loved A Space Between Us and looked forward to reading Honor. Even though I have been to India and witnessed much...what Honor provided was a true friendship and love between 2 women who never would have met if not for the crime committed. How sad if this was loosely based on a true story.
The Forest of Vanishing Stars: A Novel
by Kristin Harmel
never expected to like to it until........ (7/15/2021)
I really got into the book and could not put it down. My resistance was...oh no another war book. But this was different and Yona proved to be an incredible character. A different take on the war presented by a most unusual woman who could and would take chances on her life and many others. An outstanding read!
