Alfie and Me: What Owls Know, What Humans Believe
by Carl Safina
Raising Alfie (9/12/2023)
Since I am usually a reader of fiction, this review may be a bit unfair.
I have found with most non fiction books and this one as well that they are often 100 pages too long.
This book was interesting initially but then became more philosophical than the subject warranted.
It seemed that the author wanted to share his knowledge of native American culture as well as other philosophies on nature.
It would probably be more interesting to true bird watchers.
The Little Italian Hotel: A Novel
by Phaedra Patrick
A charming story (3/27/2023)
A charming story of a talk show problem solver who invites four unknown troubled guests to join her in a trip to Italy which she originally planned as a 25th anniversary surprise with her husband. However when she surprises him, he surprises her in return by moving out hoping to reevaluate their marriage.
This is a well written easy to follow story of the 5 character and their joint and individual attempts to work on their issues and relationships while in a small B&B in Italy.

It reminds me a little of The Enchanted April which was also set in Italy though in the 1920s.
