I read this book over two day's about five hours as I could not put it down. All the way through the book I could not understand how David survived his mothers abuse. I recommend A Child Called 'It' to everyone.

This book presents the amazing courage of a young boy who'd survived thru his turbulent childhood period. Reading thru the last chapter of this book has been one very difficult ordeal as it brought back much pain of my own childhood although the experiences could not be compared to the pain/hurt that had been inflicted on the young Dave. In this respect, I'd want to applaud Dave Pelzer for his tremendous inner courage during his tender age as well as his courage to tell and let the whole world knows about his story.

When I was reading his book I felt bad for him and at times I look back of the things that happened in my life. And reading his book makes me feel guilty, of me feeling bad about my family, and at times I forget to thank my parents for all the things they've done for me, for all the sacrifices and reading his book makes me realize how lucky I am having a family like mine. After reading his book I've learn how to appreciate the things that was given to me and how proud I am of my family.

I would just like Mr. Pelzer to know that he's inspiration to all young people who have been in his position. Like you, Mr. Pelzer, they feel they're alone but you have given them strength and courage to keep fighting, to help them realize there are good people out there who will fight for them. Thank you for sharing your amazing story and God bless.

I couldn't put any of David Pelzer's books down till I had finished them. I was driven by the story to follow David's life. The books have been an inspiration of victory to me. I am a survivor of sexual molestation and understand David's past anger and as he had realized I also realized in my life's journey that the anger and unforgiveness will destroy you and maybe others around you. I hope to hear more from David soon.

I read the First of Dave's books, "A Child Called It", in less than 2 hours and immediately started the second in the series of three "the Lost Boy"! Mr. Pelzer, You are my hero in so many respects that I find it hard to express in words the admiration I feel for you! I recommend all his books to anyone who needs inspiration in their everyday life! Life can be extraordinary when you come across people like Mr. Pelzer who survived against the odds! Bravo David! These books as well as all your others are incredible!

I think that this book was the most inspiration book I have been fortunate to come across. I am still a teenager and have many decisions to make in my life, and one have been inspired by the book; I would like to become a social worker so that I can help those children like David. David Pelzer came and spoke to a school that a friend of mine went to, we shared the harsh realities, and triumphs that David came across. I definitely recommend this book to everyone!

I'm almost finished reading "The Lost Boy" and last week I read "A Child Called It". How any human being could treat their child the way Dave Pelzer's mother treated him is beyond words. I can't wait until his third book is available - I want to know what drove his mother to do such horrible things to a poor innocent child. I also want to know why she singled out Dave and not any of his brothers. Excellent reading.

I just finished reading "The Lost Boy" and I would just like to say that I have never read anything like these two books before. They are very disturbing. It breaks my heart that any mother can do this to her child. A wild dog has more compassion. These two books will open your eyes and break your heart all in the same sentence. I would like to Bless David for his capability to survive under extreme measures. God bless you.

I just met Dave about 2 weeks ago in Monterey, Ca where he was signing books and he signed my book "The Lost Boy". He was very kind and had a sense of humor about him and at the end of our meeting he gave me a hug. That was my early xmas present to meet him and I consider it the best xmas present. I just thought I would write in and tell everyone about my meeting with Dave Pelzer.

Even though I am only 15. these books had a huge impact on me. I never realized how fortunate I was to live with a family that respects each other. Ever since I've read these books, I have tried to be more respectful to my parents and brothers and sister. I also want to congratulate Mr. Pelzer for overcoming his great challenge and using it to his advantage. I would also like to thank him for sharing his inspiring story to the world.

If my fairy god-mother granted me once wish, and I could spend a day with any person in the world, living or deceased, I would choose to spend a day with David Pelzer, for his wisdom, courage, humanity and ability to forgive. In this third book of David's trilogy, the adult years, he shows us the true meaning of forgiveness. He is living proof that until one can honestly look into their heart and forgive the abuser, one cannot truly begin to heal. With that healing process, comes peace of mind, self-worth and the realization that the world can become as beautiful and fulfilling as you choose to make it.
"All those years you tried your best to break me, and I'm still here. One day you'll see, I'm going to make something of myself." Those are David's words. How many other survivors have said those same words? It is what keeps the spirit alive. As a counsellor and survivor, I can attest to the fact child abuse survivors are often high achievers not only because of their need to please, be accepted and loved, but because of their determination not to let the abuser "win the battle." David Pelzer won his battle. To forgive his dying father, a man who silently sat on the sidelines while David was being abused at the hands of his mother, is the ultimate attestation of David's healing, and the final destination in his journey. I think adult survivors in every corner of the world would join me in saying, "Thank you, David, for telling your story. You have, indeed, made "something of your life" and most graciously continue to do so through your work in helping others." May you, and those you love, continue to live, love and enjoy life eternally.

I was never much of a reader, a friend left the book at work. I couldn't put it down. The courage and strength of the author was so touching. I had to tell everyone of the book. It was written so well you could just feel the misery that was encountered. It will change the way a person feels and thinks. Forgiveness will be a true lesson learned from this book. If David could anyone can. The most touching heart felt book of bravery.

WHAT A BOOK! Probably the most enthralling I have ever read. As a mother of a four year old boy myself ,I could not even imagine how anyone could contemplate hurting someone so innocent let alone their own child. To then try to manipulate the rest of his life is beyond words. I have read all three books and was overwhelmed with sadness through each one, but am truly inspired by the way you "Dave" fought so hard to carry on. these books are compelling reading ,I could not put them down. Be proud of yourself Dave, I wish you and your family a good life "you deserve it!"xxxxxx

Dave Pelzer is truly an amazing person. I couldn't believe how hard his childhood was. I am very inspired. I am currently doing a author study on him, and I am amazed at how many awards he has received. I would like to write to him and tell him what an inspiration he has been! I didn't like how the father was SO wimpy. He should have taken Dave with him, when he left. I was surprised that he lived when he drank the ammonia. You rock Dave!!

Most authors use descriptive, flowery words when writing, creating a waxy bed of clay that goes nowhere. Their stories flat, lack substance and meaning. Unlike David Pelzer's book, simple as "It" seems, "A Man Named Dave" is easily described: A treasure chest filled with messages to discover, meanings to find, as his story flourishes into a garden of inspiration for all who reads this book!

This book was the most inspiring piece of work I have ever read in my life! As a child I have overcome abuse and lived my life in several different foster homes. No other book I have ever read has had such a deep inspiring affect on me! David Pelzer is by far one of the most strong, loving, and forgiving human beings that I have known of! Just the fact that he was able to live through the abuse and the virtual living hell as an child and then as an adult have the courage and compassion to want to help others and finds it in his heart to wish his mother peace, is an extraordinary task. He is truly someone that we can all look up to and learn something from. May his adult life find him and his son and wife well! For the sake of human compassion and to stop the vicious cycle of abuse that too many of us have experienced, I hope that David Pelzer continues his plight!!!

Dave has to be one of the most amazing people in the world. I too was having problems at home with abuse (not nearly as bad as Dave's), and he made me realize that you can make it, you just have to be strong. So what felt like torture that would never end has ended!! Dave gave me the courage to stop it. Thanks Dave!!!!!!!
