I agree with johny west on this one.
Come on guys, read more books! You just cant compare lotr with Eragon, its like comparing celery to steak (or something like that). I've seen a lot of *5* reviews that compliment Eragon's moving plot. Well sure the plot moves fast but its not the speed that counts, its the quality. Am I right? Besides, If you want a quick read at least go for a good quick read. Try Ender's Game, it's ten times better that Eragon.

I did not like this book.
I've heard people compare Eragon to things like LOTR and Harry Potter. Someone even went so far as to say that Eragon was way better than Harry Potter. I'm sorry but it is appalling to say that. Paolini wrote the book when he was fifteen and you'd think he would have a better grasp of the english language. Characters have very little development and the plot is maybe 2% original.
My main problem with Eragon is that it is a ripoff of some really good books. When I read it, I thought CP had simply gone through LOTR and picked names at random to slightly alter and then use. The plot is full of little Tolkien ripoffs. I thought it was bizzare that there was so much LOTR in Eragon, then I read some other reviews that rip on Paolini for copying a series called Dragonriders of Pern and even (???) Star Wars?
Anyway, read it, see what you think. If you've read Tolkien you'll might put the book down in disgust, and If you havent you might realize that the hype is becouse Paolini is 15 years old.
