I can not praise this novel enough. It evoked so many emotions in me, horror, sadness, grief and joy to name a few. At times when i was reading I only realised I was crying when the words blurred. As i read of Susie and her inbetween heaven my heart overflowed with love and compassion for the character. The idea of a 14 year old child trapped because she can't give up earth and the family she loves so passionately is so gut wrenching. I feel strongly that this book makes you see a bigger picture, that by crying for Susie and caring so deeply for her family you suddenly realise that this happens to families for real. For me that was the true horror of this story. It is an outstanding novel, with such graphic descriptions that you lose yourself in it. I read it in one day, I couldn't put it down and I would recommend anyone to read it..............and I wonder if somebody I love is watching me right now, I hope so, its a comforting thought !!

The Lovely Bones is a heart-breaking story about a young girl who was brutally murdered at a young age. The story is written from her view up in heaven. The novel is full of suspense. It shows how death can tear apart a family. It also shows how a family learns to deal with the death of a loved one. The beginning of the story is a tragedy, but the ending of the story is beautiful. It is a novel that you will never want to put down until you finish. I was shocked when I realized that the same thing could happen to me or someone that I know. The Lovely Bones is a one-of-a-kind book.

I found this book deeply touching. Being a young teen myself, I found the plot sometimes hard to handle thinking that this could so easily happen to me. The idea that there is life after death was reassuring to hear. I look foreward to another great novel.

This novel is amazing. I cried, laughed, and was horriffied all a once. The story took me into a whirlwind of emotions! She is a exceptional writer, and I look forward to read another one of her works!

I loved this novel on so many levels. I am prompted to write, after reading the posting from S.L.B. After reading this book, I was wondering what people who believe in the Christian heaven would think. She or he, did not surprise me in their response.
This book could appeal to spirituality of anyones beliefs-not the strict dictates of organized religion. It always amazes me that people who believe in the bible, cannot spell. How could they possibly read that incredible tome (the bible) and understand it? Perhaps the church can dumb it down - or some go to bible study.
The Lovely Bones heaven, is a heaven that I would like to imagine is real.
